A cost accountant determines the right cost of the product manufactured as well as the selling price for the product. You have to know the flow & cost of Raw materials, direct labor & various factory overhead in the entire production process.

The accounting is more complex than it used to be particular in the modern business environment where activity based costing is preffered to traditional costing. Computer systems cut down on the manual number crunching though.
