Does anyone ever wonder where we would be today without the nuclear bomb?

Same place as we are now with the possible exception that America and Russia would have probably fought WW III. I "assume" that you mean without any weapons of Mass Destruction at all. Research the fuel air bombs used in Dresden Germany in WW II. It killed more than the A Bomb did. Take one weapon away from humanity and they will find another to replace it. Sad but true.
