Was it just me or did the sound on 13 ghosts ruin what would otherwise have been a pretty inventive film. I like the DVD though, it has backgrounds on all the characters, which is a neat touch.

Only certain things scare me though. Gore does not, serial killer type stuff doesn't. Anything where you actually know or can see the antagonists and I am just not scared.

Case in point is Jeepers Creepers. First half **** me up, second half was almost laughable.

I actually think (contrary to popular opinion) that blair witch was really scary, and shyamylan films (signs and village) do it for me. I guess i am weird.

The Exorcist,(1973) original quite disturbing, the sequels are pretty crap.
The Grudge disturbing/scary/supernatural
The Ring good story quite scary/supernatural
The Shining, simply brilliant on all levels
Carrie also good on all levels
Ohhh, I just saw a really old black and White film on Sky this week called The Bad Seed, although not gory, the story is disturbing and so well acted - I won't spoil it for you, see if you can get it, I think you will enjoy. I could go on and on naming horror films to watch, but will leave you with the above suggestions.

suspiria - amazing movie. what an assault on the senses. Check out the amazing film score by Goblin.

inferno

deep red

exorcist 3 - shame that it was tagged as a sequel - its a perfect
horror with jump out of your seat shocks and subtle terror)

Dark waters (1993) - Gothic, dark and wonder full

The House by the cemetery - more Italian gore

the Texas chainsaw massacre (original) - so little blood. so much terror

Opera

Blood on Satan's Claw - British horror at its very best.

The Shining

I thoroughly enjoyed the ones in the 80's! Like:
The Haunting of Julia
The Changeling
Amityville Horror
Poltergeist
Halloween (argh, a guy called Michael Myers lived up the road from me and i was terrified of him)
The Shining (classic!)

I was pleasantly surprised by the Blair Witch Project actually...not while i was watching it though, just when i went to the loo in the middle of the night...I found myself standing in the corner of the bathroom haha!

heres my short list of my favourite horrors:
1. saw (one and two were equally brialliant)
2. jeepers creepers (prefer the first one to the second tho)
3. the texas chainsaw massacre
4. the grudge (cannot wait for the second one)
5. the ring
the list could go on and on, but these are my favourites...word of advice, do not watch the exorcist with high expectations...its a pile of pants!!! bored me so much and it was more funny than scary!
