Get a power planer and shave down your old curved TV screen until it is flat. I have done this on several old sets and it works great. Just be careful not to grind all the way through the glass in the middle because your picture will look funny. Sandpaper will take too long.
People say I am dumb and stupid, but I came up with this on my own, so I cannot be that much of an idiot.
