I lived in Stockholm for one year. It's great place to visit but I would never live there again and I don't recommend it to anyone. Don't take it personally, but most of the Swedish people (who live in Stockholm) are rude, ignorant, have lousy sense of humour and they are full of themselves. Everybody looks the same and if you don't fit in general trend, you will be looked down on. I have a few Swedish friends, but I met them all outside Sweden, backpacking - while I lived in Sweden I didn't make any new Swedish friends, because most of the people know each other from age 2 or 3 and they don't let strangers into their "inner circle" easily. On the other hand, I loved the food, shopping (no shop assistants please!) and Stockholm city itself is very beautiful.

Many Americans are Swedish. I think Americans find them stand-off-ish but mostly I find them to be quieter than the typical American, and that can be a good thing.
