Sometimes it's not the ingredient but how we prepare it & how much we ingest. With potatoes (& anything else) avoiding any fried ones helped me. With grains the problem tends to be that we haven't chewed or cooked them enough not to be an irritant. I don't know about sugar - possibly it may be avoiding an overindulgence of rather than a complete deletion as it occurs naturally in some food (i.e. fruits).

Any diet with too many restrictions is a recipe for failure - our bodies are being denied something they need (whether it be protein, vitamins, carbs, etc.) and we're setting ourselves up for other problems.

I have the same thing. I have never heard from my doctor to cut out potatoes, milk or sugar. I cannot remember about grains. You can do a search online and find out what foods are good and bad for it.

I urge you to read Digestive Wellness by Elizabeth Lipski for an excellent section on this difficult and irritating disease and how to deal with it. The chapter is too long to summarize here. She has a complete section on how to sort out food sensitivities and allergies which are a major component of UC. Good luck

No, not heal. But cutting stuff like that out will help.

No....Eat a balanced diet. Talk with your Dr. Generally, if some certain food or drink bothers you, don't eat it.
