Poor guy...I feel his pain. I did the same thing....even as an adult. I finally got tired of dealing with it and the doctor gave me Librax...it helped some. All three of my kids have nervous stomach symptoms....my l2 yr. old sucked on a peppermint every morning before fifth grade...and this year she is at a new school....but she seems to be doing better. When I get lilke that, I have to talk to myself to get thru it....I have even brought a bible with me in route to my job and put my hand on it for comfort....and prayed I didn't use the bathroom on myself....it is so difficult. I teach school also. And many kids have that problem. Because I have it myself, I am sensitive to it. Get the school counselor to talk to him. Find other kids that do the same thing and start a support group. Is it IBS....irritable bowel syndrome? Ask the doctor....a friend of mine had a daughter that missed so much of first grade because of her nervous stomach that she failed. Get him some help...teach him to talk his way thru it and to think positive....he needs to find a way to calm himself....tell his teachers in private....so that they will be aware of it when they call on him in class or ask him to talk in front of the class....Willard Scott and Donny Osmond both have this same thing....and they go on tv everyday....let your son know of people like that who get nervous too....don't let him think he is weird or the only one. Hope he gets better.

Seems like somatic issues. Might have some anxiety towards his peers or academic pressure and its coming out as physical issues. See if you can shadow him in his school one day or check in with his teachers after school and find out if he's having it rough with his peers or adjusting.
Sometimes kids grow out of it. But I would continue to encourage him when he does well and makes it through the day at school. Or even when he's accomplished something there. I would say if it continues past the first quarter of school to seek some assistance from the school counselor or another medical professional to discuss the physical symptoms.

He should have gotten over 'nerves' by now.
I would have a word with the school and try and get your son to discuss it, too.
It may be a lot of things, but it is a classic sign of being bullied

New school, new faces, different bus?
I would say it is transitional, and would help if he was not given sick days, or treated like there was a problem.
Check into after school programs, and get him involved with student activities.
Things will be fine soon as a continuous and repetitive schedule is in place.
DO NOT GIVE IN.

Could be someone is bothering him at school. Talk to the teachers. Or...
Some kids have "social anxiety" and if they have a anxiety attack at school they fear having another one and hence fear school. Not to be taken litely; this would be overwhelming to them.
Could be that he has irritable bowel.
Could be any number of things not so serious or serious ..so....
You need to talk to his teacher/guidance counsellor; then a trip to the doctor. Too bad if he doesn't want to go to doctor; you take him anyways.

My brother does this too and I honestly did the exact same thing, but personally I did it because I hated school and was constantly bullied. He might be having some issues with other children or tutors you should probably consider asking him or possibly asking one of his tutors if they have seen anything wrong. Good luck.

i think it might be a case of nerves but it is worth a visit to the surgery because of the sore stomach unless he is eating acid food like pickled onions and things likewise
