why are we forced to keep our celebrations to ourselves?

i am a 20year old mom to a 19month old little girl and i dont agree that as she gets older she has to call a christmas tree a festive tree and wen singing BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP in most schools now they sing RAINBOW SHEEP

For a modern day Mum it must be a nightmare to be PC all the time when you and millions of others were brought up singing nursery rythmes like Baa Black sheep. You can get black sheep infact I have a black sheep skin rug. So it is all a nonense.

And I shall always continue to use the words Christmas Tree and have Christmas festivities.

The underlying theory of Newspeak is that if something can't be said, then it can't be thought, which is pretty much the premise of being "Politically Correct."

First it was started with the terms in psychology. Such terms as morons, idiots, etc., were removed from usage because it "offended" some. Now... wait a minute... this is just pure, unadulterated, 100% nonsense... rubbish! What's next? Italians won't be allowed to celebrate Columbus Day because he brought about exploitation and slavery, disease and untold horrors to the new world... and the the Mafia, Cosa Nostra... oh, for goodness sakes! What, we shouldn't celebrate Jewish holidays or Muslim holidays or Christian holidays...? Are those sissies so "delicate" that they feel "offended" over the most trivial nonsenses? It's called "tuff s h i t" and they can lump it if they don't like it. WE can't go to certain countries and celebrate OUR holidays but then they come here and we have to curtail our customs for the sake of foreigners, too? Hold it... hold it... it's one thing to respect but... what is this b u l l s h i t that we can't let people celebrate their own hoilidays? Hey, I'm an atheist and I'm not offended by anyone's holidays... hasn't anyone ever heard of the word "tolerance"? I was told not to go by a neighborhood during their sabbath recently or they'd stone my car... is this what we're coming to? Let someone stone my car and I'll drill their sissy a s s e s with good ol' fashioned lead.

When my daughter was a little girl, she celebrated her mother's customary holidays (Christian) but she also went to her friend's home and celebrated with her Jewish friend and now she is teaching her children to respect her friend's holidays (Kwanzaa, Ramadan, etc).

I remember when my daughter was a little girl, we had a neighbor, a very kind elderly neighbor, and he had a kind smile, a rotund belly, white sideburns, bald on top, and a button-round nose... I asked him if he would wear a Santa Claus outfit and come to our homes and give our children their gifts. He replied, "Hey, Calico, I'm Jewish..." and I replied, "So was Jesus!" and he laughed and said, "OK, where's the costume?" Bless his heart, good ol' Ben did this until the year he passed away!

Next thing you know is that some idiots are going to make this into a Liberal conspiracy... when it should rightfully be blamed on those Conservatives that refuse to admit their fault in any matter they screw up by blaming others and using all sorts of deceptive euphemisms and excuses...

When I lived in Stratford, in East London, our local shopping centre was banned from putting up a Christmas tree for fear of offending the Muslim community. Also we were not allowed to hang England flags out when the football was on.

I am sure Muslim people see the stupity of this as it provokes controversy and aggravates racism that may not have been there in the first place. It makes it look like our religion or culture is not allowed in its own country of origin.

Politics have got too P.C. and need to calm down or risk causing further segregation rising from resentment.

My Muslim friends think the whole thing is ludicrous and do not feel offended by any religion or culture.

Where do these people in charge get their ideas from?

This is called multiculturalism and it is destroying our American heritage. It is an attempt to appease every race, nationality and ethnic group, and it is using public education as a vehicle to do so. The object is to erase any identity of Americanism from the people of America. It wants to create a classless society in which the individual is absorbed into an identity of mass nothingness. It is like many of those painting that you see in museums where people have no faces, or where there are cityscapes that have no people or animals in them---like it is the morning after a neutron bomb attack and there is nothing left alive. It's mad isn't it.............In my lil girls school they were not allowed an Easter Bonnet parade (something they've had every year since I went to the school!!) because the Muslim parents were offended. Also when the school has a mass as it is Catholic the children from other religions do not have to come into school until 10.30am as opposed to 8.55 like the Catholic kids.....it is a Catholic school, the parents from other religions know this, so why when they put their kids in the school do they seem to get special treatment!!!

This country bends over backwards for other cultures and religions whilst neglecting it's own!!

Yeah! And nowadays because of the EU we have to call the traditional chocolate treat "Chocolate Balls" instead of "****** Balls".

It's odd, because the word for "******" in Finland, well, it doesn't bear that much of a negative connotation. It's just what they called them in the olden days. Gypsies were called "Blacks" so that was taken already.
