Hi, I'm 18. I just have one little spot under my chin that needs shaving. A few isoloate hairs on my cheeks that don't become evident until a week without shaving. The hair under my arms is there, but is much less than there should be. I also notice that it's always been hard to grow muscle and that my body looks a little underformed. I get flack from friends all the time for my youthfulness. I truly believe there is a chemical/genetic problem. I have brown hair. I went to an endocrinologist about a year ago and he agreed that I looked very young, but my testosterone tests came back normal, as did the others. Has anybody here come across such a phenomenon before or know anybody with similar symptoms?Anyone who says that I should be grateful for not having to shave doesn't understand that I feel embarassed for looking like I'm still an 8th grader. If not for this, I believe I'd be a handsome guy.

Everything you have described to us sound like it is in the normal range to me. Some men don't have heavy beards -- it's just the genetic mix they inherited and has nothing to do with hormone problems, etc. And some ethnic groups do not have much body or facial hair.
Now, as to the other issues, like muscle mass and the like: Think of muscle development and sexual development as separate things. Yes, there are some guys in their teenage years who look like Adonises, right away. But that is not the norm. We men continue to develop our muscles long after high school -- and our classmates years later are often surprised at what our mature physiques look like.
Something you are going to have to do is concentrate on what you perceive to be the very masculine points about yourself. Everyone of the men reading and responding to your question have some things they would like to change about their physical selves but there are also things they would never change.
I hope this helps you.

If your endocrinologist has not found anything wrong, you are just a late developer. You can change your body by going to the gym. Hire a trainer that will show you the proper way to train in order to develop more muscles. Dress your age. I understand your concerns of looking young, however, the older you get, the more you'll appreciate it and others will see you as the handsome guy you really are.

Some guys just don't get much facial hair. I know a couple of guys that are similar to you and they're totally normal . One is married and the other is a fireman. He worked hard in the gym, got knocked back a couple of times but he got there. Also guys often don't finish developing and growing until mid twenties. Your friends will always find something to have a go at you about, roll with it and make it work for you.

If your doctor has conformed that your testosterone level is normal then I guess everything will be alright in a couple of years time.I had a friend in the college who also used to get teasers from us because he didn't have any facial hair at all at the age of about18-19 years. So considering that I suppose you should be happy that you have at least some facial hair.

some people have phobias approximately buttons. like those on your jacket, or despite. bypass see a doctor if this concern is getting in the way of you having the ability to stay many times. you prefer help. you mustn't be embarassed. a minimum of you're petrified of a few thing thrilling. Me? i'm s**tscared of clowns, and that's the main effortless, uninteresting element around. practically every physique's petrified of clowns.

Many men are older but look much younger. I am one of them. I'm in my early 40's but often get mistaken for being in my 20's. There is nothing wrong with you. You will simply have to learn to live with it. Now that I have some gray in my beard, I keep it & don't shave it off; to help people realize I'm older than I look.

Maybe you are a late bloomer, or maybe you just aren't going to get much body hair. Don't worry, in about 15 years you'll be happy that you look young.

Y'know boys can still grow at 18. I know guys that didn't 'blossom' until they were almost 20. And boy did they blossom. Just be patient. And hey, when everyone else looks 50, you look 40! (See, there's always a silver lining!)

I really wouldn't worry about it, mate. I know guys in their 30s who have difficulty growing facial hair. You're either hairy or you're not or you're somewhere in between!
