I'm going to Prague in Feb (yes cold i know!!) with my boyfriend and we're looking for cheap accommodation. Preferably in the Old Town or somewhere close to Wenceslas square. Basically somewhere where we can walk to the centre. Don't mind if its a hotel or apartment just as long as it's not a hostel! Pricewise i was hoping for between £30 and £45 at most per night. (roughly 45 euro to 65 euro) We're going for 4 nights. I really need help. There's soooo many to choose from but would like to hear from people who've been b4 so i know the accommodation is clean!! Tried a few travel agents but think they're too dear. Any ideas anybody?

Try www.tripadvisor.co.uk
They have reviews of hotels from people who have stayed there, so you get a good idea of what to expect. When you have found a hotel you like you can then shop round on the internet for the cheapest price :-)

Prague is one of many towns worth-visit and to do that you can start planning your vacation with hotelbye . Beginning with the charming place across the Prague Castle or the Strahov monastery with its outstanding library and end with …the complete wonderful city, Prague is just incredible. In Prague you may also visit the small house wherever Franz Kafka worked or the beautiful Prague Castle gardens from where you could enjoy a special see of the city with its picturesque red roofs. In that city you will never get bored. If you should go throughout the spring you may find the spring woods in bloom; in the summer you might find long dusks; autumn provides you with colorful leaves and particular light and in the winter you will like the entire town included with innocent bright snow.

Try abaka.com good local page. Why stay in the center? Go little bit further public transportation is excellent, safe and cheap as the whole city. You pay around 6 dollars for 4 days in public transportation,15 minutes in metro will get living cost as well as eating cost down. They have beautiful restaurants outside the center.

Don't eat or drink or live in Prague 1 the area you describer its beautiful to visit though. Last spring i was staying with my wife in Palmovka area (15 min by Metro) in private apartment (sadly abaka only rents them for a week, but in February doesn't hurt to ask for shorter). If you rent an apartment you have to forward a cash deposit, done it 3 times works reliably, no problems.

An example. Half liter (0,9 pint) of beer in our local pivoar costed 18 koruna (80 US cents) while it costed up to 95 korunas in Prague 1. Beautiful open flame pizza in a restaurant 3,5 dollars while 10 dollars in Old Town and so on, with no difference in quality at least not for the center in beer of pizza .

Prague is one of the top 3 cities in Europe so enjoy your stay.

You're not going to find something that cheap in that area. If that's your budget, do try a hostel. I stayed in one, and it was great. I was there for 3 days. It's not that big of a city anyway, and the subway system is very easy and cheap to use.
It's one of my favorite places, you'll have a great experience.
