No, he shouldn't be hitting her, even if she hit him first. She shouldn't be hitting him either, nothing is solved with violence.

No. You are getting confused by assuming a sex-based difference where there is none.
What you are describing is an aggressor and a victim. In all cases, the primary goal of the victim is to avoid physical harm to themselves and their attacker (assuming this is not an armed (guns/knives/etc.) situation, which would permit self-defence actions). This is because in this modern society we live in, people who respond to violence with violence face unfortunate consequences of their actions, even though they did not instigate the attack. The secondary goal of the victim is to avoid similar future confrontations.
If the person being attacked is substantially stronger than the person doing the attacking, a good option is to restrain (without injuring) the aggressor.
If the person being attacked is weaker or of relatively equal strength, then more complicated options have to be found. This may include shouting loudly for someone's help in restraining the aggressor, walking away from the aggressor, running away(!), calling the police, etc.
It is not the victim's responsibility to "teach someone a lesson". The victim's responsibility is to avoid future similar confrontations. If the attack is triggered by a one-time set of circumstances that are unlikely to arise again, the victim can return after a cooling off period. If this attack is a habitual form of communication by the aggressor, however, the victim must sever the relationship with the aggressor. If the victim is a dependant of the aggressor, an unrelated person's aide must be sought to assist in the severing process. This is usually the police, child services, or a shelter for the abused.

This is controversial!
During the Dark ages women were not seen as equals! but often hit by men, Women had to fight to become equals to men for things like Employment opportunities, voting and such like!
So men and women being equal ...... should suggest that if a woman hit a man, the man should have the right to retaliate?
Personally i would not unless it was in self defence, I would advocate walking away, and as I'm a lover not a fighter, don't do anything that would provoke a woman to hit you in the first place!

Its not ok for anyone to anyone else. Male or female.
If a woman hits a man, let the police sort it out as you would if a man hit a woman.
If the man is stronger he can do more damage.
If a child hit you, would you beat the crap out of them to show
them whose boss?
If you think hitting a women, going to town and roundhouse kicking shows her whose boss then you probably deserved it anyway!
If someone hits someone else, walk away and go to the police, it takes a bigger person to walk away or peope just keep hitting each other in return, vicious circle.

I presume that you are referring to domestic situations. My karate instructor is female and I hit her all the time, which she accepts with sporting good grace and humour, after which she generally kicks the shytte out of me.
In a domestic situation? No, no, no, not ever. If a woman slaps a man in anger then he walks away with a rueful smile on his face. If he did something to deserve it then he can eat out on the memory. If he didn't, she'll either come crawling or she wasn't worth it in the first place. If a woman blows a tantrum and starts swinging wildly it is incumbent on a man to restrain her until she blows herself out or turns her passion to a more enjoyable pursuit. Might take some time, but it will probably be worth it. But a man hitting a woman in anger, either as retaliation or punishment? No, not ever. Real men don't hit women, gutless wimps do.

Women do hit men more than the other way round, but men don't report it. Feminists cash in on this by quoting misleading statistics. Women will often use an object. If you do hit back you will find the courts suddenly will not understand equality. I wouldn't agree with your response unless her violence was extreme. But I do think that women should not abuse the consideration normally afforded to women by men. If you act like a ladette, expect to be treated like one.

if a woman wants to fight you like a man then she deserves the fight
if however you are arguing and she slaps you then a push away will suffice, there is no justification for punching anybody male or female who is weaker than you are or at a distinct dis advantage to you, i have been attacked in a pub by a female with a bottle, i leg swept her, which stopped her in her tracks and made her think that trying to bottle me was not such a good idea her boyfriend on the other hand got the axe kick and a left right combination. its only because i am smaller but 18 yrs in the army taught me to look after myself. regards LF

Any act of physical retaliation is seen in my opinion, to be a sign of weakness and extreme cowardice. Obviously women aren't as physically strong as men, so regarding men hitting back, women can never defend themselves from Mans brutality.
Admittedly there are certain Women that go out of there way to wind their partners up and as you mentioned, resort to physical violence. However there is no excuse in the World for hitting a Women back. I totally condemn 'wife/girlfriend beaters', to me they're the scum of the earth.

Why, did you give your poor wife/girlfriend a couple of 'digs last night, now you've come on here to try and justify your cruel act of violence?
NO it's NOT O.K to hit/punch/slap/kick Women under any circumstances. Men who retaliate with physical violence are simply low-life wa*kers!!
