HI i came back from there on sep 4 06, it is very very hot usually around 42 degrees, i stayed at the Conrad Hilton. the brochure made it seem better than it was there is a lot of development going on. the sea is crystal clear and very warm, but you cant really swim unless your snorkeling as it is way to shallow. the fish are amazing its a must for diving, outside the resorts it is quite dirty, me and my husband spent a week fighting over who was having the toilet first. be warned about the men they are all perverts, they will chat your Mrs up all the time, and you cannot walk past a shop without being forced in to buy something.
PLEASE if you are proposing you must go on an excursion called the sunset cruise it is absolutely stunning and very romantic, as the sun was going down me and my husband saw dolphins swimming in front of the boat, its about £70 . and you get a DVD to take home. she will love it. good luck. x

My Girlfriend and I took my 5 year old there in April, we stayed at the Coral Sea Resort.
The resort is ok if you like 'brit style entertainment', games by the pool etc, we kept out of the way and went to the beach everyday. The lagoon is very shallow which is good for paddling but not for swimming.
Also there is no way the Coral Sea is 4 star, it's adequate though, the rooms are big and clean.
If you like snorkelling then go to Sharks Bay, about 15 mins in a cab, it is excellent, trendy crowd, if a little busy.

Please don't stay in the hotel at night, get a cab into Naama Bay, it'll be a white knuckle ride but good restaurants and a buzzing atmosphere.

It's hot all year other than December, Jan/Feb, it can be pretty windy as well.

I'd go again but in better hotel, I don't like the whole package tour thing but if that's for you then the Coral Sea will suit.

One thing, they do have an excellent dive school at the hotel and the Red Sea is world renowned for some of the best diving and snorkelling.

Yeah it's lovely, just between the Desert and the Red Sea great for snorkeling and that kind of thing. Lots of coral beaches rather than sand though.

I wouldn't call it romantic though. Perhaps suggest a day trip to Cairo and propose there by the Sphinx or Pyramids. That's after you get over the stomach bug that seems to grip most tourists in the heat.

If she says no you can always sell her for some camels.

I'm Egyptian, though I haven't visited Sharm El-sheikh, I've heard wonders about its beauty and charm from my friends. One negative aspect about it is very hot, but the best is when you cool your "flarring" body into the nice blue-cool water either in you resort's swimming pool or in the enchanted Red Sea...Scuba diving is the most interesting especially when hit be rainbow-colored fish under the clear water of the Red Sea...Good luck...and e-mail me please if you went there and talk to me about it...Enjoy!
