It's worth getting an expert to check your computer out at:

http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0

Register, go to the Hijack This Forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, give a brief description of your problem (like you've just typed) and post your log there. The guys in there are fantastic and trustworthy and will guide you through in getting rid of anything nasty from your computer. Good luck!

No offence to people saying use AVG free, but it is not that good. I used it and then AVG pro then changed to bitdefender and AVG pro had missed 4 trojans and numerous other viruses.
Steer clear of Norton its the most hacked anti-virus programme in the world.
Whatever you choose always remember to keep it updated.
The question after removing the virus is where did it come from? So it does not happen again. Most anti-virus programs have an option, that when you download a file (before you open the file) right click on it and pick scan for virus. This will scan the unopened file for infections. Get into a habit of scanning everything you download. As soon as you open an unscanned file with an infection then you have had it.

Sounds like you have Norton anti-virus.....In my opinion, it is as good as useless.
Download AVG anti virus from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
disable Norton and run AVG.....I am confident that it will detect and clear the virus.

deleting the file, as suggested above is a stupid suggestion.....the file you delete (if you can delete it) will not be the root file which spreads the virus through your system.....time and experience have taught me that lesson.

{edit} I take your point - I have always had good experiences with AVG, but I accept that no anti virus is foolproof.
I have heard good reports about AVAST... I think it is well worth trying a different AV soltution to the one you have at the moment and seeing if that will clear the problem.
{i still think Norton is a piece of cr@p}

Listed programs have been carefully tested by the 2-spyware.com research center and successfully passed our strict tests. All the products in Anti-Spyware category really work, do not deceive the user by producing false positives and cannot damage a compromised computer while eliminating found malware. However, it is important to know that not all of them are recommended for daily use. Each spyware remover in the list comes with a review describing its positive sides, drawbacks and impression it left. Such review also includes program screenshots, information about its price, implemented features, performance and general effectiveness. We rate tested programs by giving marks from 1 to 100. The higher mark a spyware remover gets the more effective it is. Please carefully read each review, pay attention to the rating mark a program got and read comments published by other visitors. This will help you to make a wise choice and compare your current anti-spyware program with other modern solutions on the market.

If you cannot find a particular spyware remover in anti-spyware category, take a look on the category of corrupt tools. It contains the list of rogue, fake, illegal, even harmful applications that definitely cannot correctly detect and remove various security and privacy threats and therefore must be avoided.

Start up your computer in safe mode, (press F8 before the Windows start up logo appears). Do a search for the infected file.

To manually delete it, you need to know where it is, you need the EXACT file nam, extension, folder and location. You go into the Program folders or protected system files and delete it! Be CAREFUL!

Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run Avast and Ewido in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it.

The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Instal both these web browsers, turn off javascript on one and use that browser for vising unknown websites. They don't support Active X so thats one less way for problems to get on your pc.

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
