Playing these many matches between srilanka, zim, ban and WI is completely time-wasting, when u know srilanka and wi will qualify for the trophy. So what is the point in playing these one-sided many matches, and that also on the venues where there are no supporters for these teams for these level of matches ? Is ICC killing the interest of cricket ?

the format is not god..not at all!! though ICC is not kiling the interest of the game...i still feel millions watch these matches back home!! threre is no harm playing bangladesh n zimbabwe...!! but in my view, the format should be changed...all those who watch hockey closely...must b k knowing about the hockey champions trohy format...that the top 6 teams qualify for the trophy..n play 5 games..one to each other on round robin basis..this givs a true n clear picture of q who stands the best...dividing 8 teams in 2 groups might well give a less better sample..than playing 6 teams with each other..and the top 2 playing finals!! ans yes, there can b classification matches as well for the 3rd n 5th places!! the tournament needs some format changes!!

Accordig to laid down procedure for Champions Trophy, first 6 teams in the rankings are qualified for main events while remaining 4 teams have to play each other in the qualifying rounds to become qualified for main events. While these matches have turned out to be one sided matches, it is being played with an aim to give exposure to lowly rated teams. If these teams do not play against major teams, how can they get the exposure and improve their games.

Further, these qualifying matches have provided opportunity to Sri Lanka and West Indies to get some match practice and get adjusted to the conditions before they play the main event matches.

Cricket is played ALL over the world. What the ICC is trying to do is to lift the playing standards of countries, currently not playing at the top level.I say full marks to them for trying to expand our game.
This is the way India,Pakistan,Sri lanka and lately Bangladesh got their chance to play at the top level.
So why shouldn't others get the same fair chance?

PS Watch for the emergence of the Dutch team in the next few years.

Certainly they cant improve by playing among themselves. They need to play aginst strong oppositions.
