You don't need that friend's validation, the one you like will be attracted to you when you let them see that it doesn't effect your self-esteem by showing that person respect and not wavering. You will be fine if this persons opinion does not penetrate your brain,...think only positive thoughts and act in a manner that shows people that you are of integrity. good luck

For example, if the one you like was called jo, I would say to closest friend, " Look, if you care about Jo's feelings as much as I do and you want to see her happy, like me, then lets agree to be civil to each other for his/her sake." I decent friend would agree, as they would only have their friends best interests at heart.
Its also very hard to dislike someone when you are being nice to them and you might find that the friend will grow to like you.

Depends on the situation. I actually hate my partners best friend, and I had to live with him for 2yrs. We still don't like eachother, but we get on with it for the sake of the one we both care about(we actually shared a joke the other day). Take little baby steps xx.

You tell the person that you like that the best friend tried to crack onto you. Then when she denies and hates you you can just tell the person you like that you tried to let them down as easy as possible because I know how close you 2 are.
Too easy give me something harder

I say at least stay out of each others hair to keep the peace. Ask your BF to tell his friend to not bother you & you will promise not to bother with him.
Otherwise confront that person & settle your differences like adults should

tell them you'll do your best to try to get along with that person, but this does not mean your going to be friends, your just going to be respectful! AND YOU WOULD APPRECIATE THE SAME TREATMENT.

You don't 'do' anything. That's their problem. It is probably reciprocated then by the one you like and they don't want anyone else on the scene. Just ignore them.

I won't do or say anything but I'll let time prove that I'm worth his/her respect or even liking.
