Talk is cheap during elections.
I believe the US will maintain a base in Iraq for a decade,
no matter which party is elected.
Some one needs to keep tabs on Iran, they are a threat to the entire Mideast and their support of terrorists (Militants) could lead to WW3.

Honestly, if the world forgave us or not, I don't think the average American gives a rats. Remember that old episode of South Park where Cartman's on the Jerry Springer-esque show saying, "Ah do what I want!" That's America for ya.

When I'm on vacation in some far off tourist trap surrounded by folks from Ireland, Australia, Canada etc, I can spot an American from a mile away. Americans walk with a certain swagger, a confidence that is born and bred in America. America has been at the top forever, or for as long as it matters. If other countries hate us, the American replies, "screw you...we're number 1" I hate to say it, but it's no lie. America rules the roost.

I'm a Canadian (US resident), and have been living here the past 12 years. Believe me, Americans don't need anyone's forgiveness.

No because of the self proclaimed religiously right republicans who have done this all on their own. Any properly informed person would know that, but most are sheep and like to blame the Dem's. For Christ sake you got a pedophile sending pornographic material to 16 year old pages. The entire republican party now not what it used to stand for is the most disgusting governing body on earth.Baa Baa baa. For those that didn't understand English.

We can only hope it doesn't matter what political party the next President is from but that they will make decisions based on the reality of what ever is happening at that time.
Maybe some kind of providence will happen and Bush will be impeached and tried for his crimes against humanity. The rest of the world can't be wrong - England is getting rid of Blair, why can't America do the same with our faulty President. W can't even make it through a full sentence anymore without tripping over his tongue. His own party is running from him.
Impeach Bush and Cheney and start fresh. We won't fall apart if we don't have a quote leader for a few months. Americans have turned into wimps - our founders would be ashamed of us for our lack of patriotism...

There are more issues than Iraq. I think an ill advised quick withdraw followed by civil war will only happen if the Dem's gain control. I think the Republicans will rely on the advice of the generals and with draw at a slower rate leaving a more stable Iraq.

yeah.. this will really send huge tremors across the relationship that america shares with other nations.Pres.Bush has never been successfull to facilitate peace. Though, he was successful to catch hold of saddam, he still made america responsible for the killing of so many innocent lives in Iraq.Nd same is the case in Afghanistan too.So.. the ill-feeling that Pres.Bush has created for himself and his country among the other nations.. will last for generations to come...

With great power comes great responcibility. I think no matter what America (mommy and Daddy) does the people of the world will find something right and wrong in what is done. Children only want thier parents involvment when they need something or it swings thier way.

They will hate us like they alway have. Then they will demand aid from us the every time there is a natural disaster. Or they will be campaigning for our tourist dollars.
The people are not going to elect a president who promotes "cut and run" in 2008. We are not that stupid.

Does the world really think the U.S. will forgive it for standing by and making it try and fix the problems that threaten them more than it.
