Unfortunately there is no such thing as normal and wouldn't life be boring if that were the case.
The amount of actual sex in a relationship is necessarily a reflection of the success of the relationship. Some people don't associate sex with Love and it may feel meaningless. Others may have intimacy problems and that doesn't mean they don't want to be intimate or they don't want to be with you.
Time is always the biggest issue with this matter:
How much time do you actually spend only being intimate?
Not being interrupted, not talking about stresses.
Do you actually have any quality time when your not too tiered to do anything and you haven't got your mates with you?
Every couple will be different and even when you have all the time in the world a lull in your sex life doesn't mean it's the end of your relationship.
However if a lull goes into complete abstinence for more than six weeks or so it is important to discuss and make efforts before it turn to 3 months 6 months a distraction then a parting of company.

Normal?
...

It really depends on the lifestyles of the couple, responsibilities, where they are...

For example, a newly married couple will be at it like rabbits.

A couple with a new child probably won't because they have to look after the baby.

A couple currently living in someone's house, probably won't be quite as adventurous (especially, if they're bedroom is next to the person who owns the house).

There's also how hard someone works, if you're tired, you ain't gonna feel up to it (excuse the pun).

It reaaallly depends.

But if you want to have a healthy relationship.

At least once a week, with a lot of love and affection between.

Sex is not the only way to show you love someone, and if there is a lack of love and affection, sex will become a chore.

This depends on what your sex drives are like and what "time of day" person you are, for instance you get someone who is morning and another who is night so they are gonna tend to kinda clash on these things but on average 2-3 times a week for couples who have been in a relationship longer than 3 years.

When you first get with someone and your in the honeymoon stage then its usually everyday of the week maye twice a day.

This comes provided both from your free time. In my opinion you must have all the sex you can! It is after all one of the basics in a successful relationship.
Wish I could have more but those long working hours just disagree :-p

As you said , it differs with different couples .Sexologists say any amount of sex in the day wouldnt do you bad .. So there is no "normal" amount as such !

Thats about it , hope it answers your question ..

it depends on if you both have a high/low sex drive, if you have the same amount of sex drive it shouldn`t be a problem it is only a problem if one is high and the other is low.
