The selection process for the winner of the prize commences with the formation of an advisory committee which includes an author, two publishers, a literary agent, a bookseller, a librarian, and a chairperson appointed by the Booker Prize Foundation. The advisory committee then selects the judging panel, the membership of which changes each year, although on rare occasions a judge may be selected a second time.
To maintain the consistent excellence of the prize, judges are selected from amongst leading literary critics, writers, academics and notable public figures.

How many of us read Arundhati Roy? what was the subject?
what was her background? Where is she using the prize money? Some where in 1968 Ford Foundation gave some where around 9 lacks prize for a Marathi book. That time
dalit panther movement was at its peak. The subject of the book was how upper cast are treating the dalits. The language was very filthy. It is not Ford or Booker's responsible for this it is those Indians who helped to reach this book there. It is criminal conspiracy against Hindu culture.
As I know Roy's background is very debatable and under sheer frustration she wrote something, literally garbage but for the conspirators it is very valuable. to use as source material, like an author used for Shivaji and made the required damage.
Why Guru Golwalkar, Savarkar, Patel, Vivekanad and many other never ever reached to any award status? They all were talking about Hindu culture, not about questionable Human rights. Hindu's are not considered applicable for Human rights.
By the way, why Indians love Windows? ' cause it behaves exactly like them. RAM may be 2GB but it Uses only 512K in packets at a time. Indians have Tera Tera bits of RAM but use very little at times that is why they forget very fast. They never ever learn by past mistakes.

well, guys i have a related question...are indian reading books relevent to india, indian society, indian history and its culture ? Many people will flock to book stores for this book in india..remember booker award society may not understand or award books relevent or important to indian youths. I am surprised at the way indian journalists, writers are unaware of indian culture, about indian philosophy which have admirers world over !They are absolutely unaware of literary work done by indian sages and philosophers. I suggest to include one classic sanskrit book to be read by all students. It can be a translation.
