there are different species in rabbits, with different sort of furs. Some kids can get an allergie of the normal relatively short haired rabbit, but are fine with angola's. The disadvantage is that these rabbits require a lot of attention with combing.
A rabbit is cleaner than a cat, they wash themselves more frequent and are quite easy to train to do everything on a litterbox. I had a house trained rabbit for years, never found anything. One condition though, clean their boxes frequent, otherwise they will find an alternative spot!

i used to have a pet bunny and loved it!!! my kids have had pet bunnies too and loved them. they make a great pet and can be litter box trained just like a cat. my rabbit when slept on the back porch and when he had to use the bathroom he would hop toward the door and scratch at it so you'd know to let him out to go... in terms of allergies yes people can be allergic to them ...

most people aren't allergic to rabbits. You're more likely to get sick from fleas than an indoor rabbit. They litter in a litter box if you train them. http://www.rabbit.org
