Its been leaking forever with fluid drippin on passenger side by the front tire about (8-10 inches in) with multiple drip spots forming one puddle and for the life of me i cannot locate the source of the leak. after running it will stop leaking in about 5 min. And with the engine cold when I add more fluid and top it off it will leak for a little. then stop till i start it back up. I know its not the water pump or bypass hose the leak seems to be more towards the firewall. I've also just noticed with the engine running there's a steady mist of coolant that is spraying up from down there kinda from under the alternator/power steering pump area i dunno if its the serpintine belt throwing it up but any hoses i see are'nt leaking. I read about freeze plugs could that be it? Anybody know how many there are? and is it possible to fix with a standard set of tools and a small budget? But it's F***ed up I have a leak going down and one going up that i can't route!

Sounds like it's leaking from the water pump shaft and getting flung all over the place. A pressure test and alot of poking around should find the leak.

If not do the "Fat woman sex test." Wash the side of the engine down and dry with compressed air or over night. Toss talcum powder (flour works in a pinch) all over the side untill every surface possible is covered. Dont leave any piles on the belt! Start the engine and look for the "wet spot". leak found.

Sounds like your heater core has puked. Sometimes with a bad core you will get a sweet smelling mist on the windshield when you turn the defrost on and the heat up. Not always though. There is a vent tube from your core that comes out of your firewall, a rubber tube with a 90 degree bend towards the ground. The guts of the core might be gone and the leak is just the need for the coolant to go somewhere. Is the passenger side carpet wet? A lot of times that is an indication of a heater core problem. Good luck

i would check the heater core and hoses. the heater core is on the passenger side under the dash. some times the place the hoses going thought the fire wall hook to the core might be leaking. it could be a cracked block. have you checked the oil, it may be a creamy green color if block is cracked. but i would check heater core. do you smell anti freeze in the car could be a heater core gone bad sign. the over flow bottle or hoses but be the problem. good luck hope i helped.

Dude throw the peice of sh*t away while you can. I had the same exact car and I had that same problem, sooooo I was 2 hours away from home and I was driving over railroad tracks and i hear boom clunk bang snap. No brakes no steering. I pulled in to the gas station and some mechanic looked under the hood, my motor blew all the belts snapped my alternator, starter, basically everything. I took my system out called a ride and left the peice of s*it there. :) Good Luck.

I would still say that it is the water pump take it to a garage and have the mech do a pressure test on the system, I bet u will find the water pump leaking out of the weep hole.

Water Pump or freeze plug come to mind first but it may be just a hose. Can you put it on a lift and look up on it?

you might want to check the freeze plugs towards the rear of the engine. when they go bad it will leak and is a pain to replace. good luck.

They have plastic intake manifold that warps over time. Replace with after market metal one.
