ie British taxes spent on British people, controlled immigration, laws made to suit British people, return to common sense values etc
Or shall we all just go back to sleep?

Doctor B - perhaps the unelected rulers of the EU would find it less easier and happier without their huge saleries and expenses too. Anyway, who says that we British do not have high standards. I suggest our standards are better and more 'common sense'.

Rustican - what are you talking about? New does not necessarily mean better.
The EU is built upon corruption and greed.

Veritas - you are 100% correct. A friend saw a map of the EU's Europe about 8 years ago. She told me then that Scotland was intact and still called 'Scotland', however, England had been broken into subdivisions (and no mention of the word 'England', with my dear Kent being lumped together with the Calais region of France. I'm afraid to say that I did not believe her - then.

Felicity O - removing ourselves from the greed and corruption of the EU does not mean we wish to be insular. I want us to have the whole world as our friends and trading partners, not just who unelected foreigners choose for us.

You are absolutely right. I have the very deepest suspicion of any British person who doesn't agree with you. At the very least they will have been indoctrinated by their left leaning teachers/lecturers, or by the British left wing TV media. I simply do not understand why anyone would want to hand control of their country over to a totalitarian foreign entity known as the EU. We have managed our country for over a thousand years, very well thankyou, despite attacks from European countries.

I honestly think, that because young people travel abroad a lot more these days, that they confuse the personal level with the macro level, ie, the level at which government must operate at. Because they have a friend called Fritz in Germany (personal level) that they like and get on with, they then think that it is OK to join a common club called the EU. Because we are all friends together you see. Governments can not operate at this personal level, they have to operate at the impersonal macro level in the interest of the country as a whole taking many factors into account. Most of the serious long term problems that we have today have been created by this Government and their insane desire to be absorbed by the EU. I have noted too, that under proposed EU plans to carve up Britain, Scotland remains intact whilst England is carved up. Taking into account the membership of the British Cabinet, I will leave you to work that one out.

British people may find it easier without the EU control but not necessarily happier. EU exerts and expects standards to be met by and for all its members. Better products and better services though mean harder work under EU.

It wouldn't be so bad if British government adopted the same attitude to EU rules as the Frogs and the Krauts. That is to say implement the ones that do you some good and ignore the rest. Here we get lumbered with every bloody thing implemented to the nth degree. Ridiculous.

If the UK clamps down on all immigration from any where within the EU, then it also has to keep out immigrants from outside the EU - like people from the US. The UK should blow up the Chunnel, tell Bush to go to hell etc. etc. If you're going to be insular, then be insular.

I totally agree with you.

We have too many immigrants in this country now. Close the borders.

Unemployment is so high because - foreigners have British workers jobs.

And to all these people that complain that their ways of life arent supported in the UK, I say, you come to our country to live, you live by our customs, if you dont like it, go back where you came from.

Also, why is the taxpayer, paying immigrants to leave the country, they should be made to go, not paid
