I have PCOS and I'm on my second pregnancy. I was told by my gp and my gynaecologist that it would be virtually impossible for me to conceive so I resigned myself to a life with no children. My first pregnancy was a complete shock for both my husband and I but we were thrilled. I was diagnosed with diabetes in January of this year and was put on Metformin to help control my blood sugar. I didn't know it at the time but Metformin is also used as a fertility drug for people with PCOS. Well, apparently it works because in August, I became pregnant with our second child, due in April 2007. Talk to your doctor and good luck!

I know 5 people who have PCOS and all went on the have babies, in fact one of them has 3. It would be advisable to go into this with a positive state of mind as attitude is key in many cases.

We have all heard of people who worried and couldn't have kids and as soon as they gave up or went on holiday and stopped thinking about it, they fell pregnant.

It takes the average person up to one year to conceive naturally even if they do not have problems.

I also saw a documentary that said between 25 and 35 was the ideal time to try for a baby.

So good luck, you have much going for you.

P.S. I would also go to doctors after 3 months of trying because the waiting lists are long, tell them you have been trying for a year and you will get seen by someone who will check you out.
Even if the waiting list is 6 months, at least after a year of trying you will have an appointment waiting for you, and if you are pregnany by then, they will be thrilled for you and wont mind cancelling the appointment.

One other thing, you are allowed one free try of IVF on the NHS, also, if it gets to the stage on needing another free IVF there are clinics out there who will give you free IVF in return for you donating half of your eggs.

Just some different options, not only for you but for other who read this hoping to gain some insight.

I am sure you will become pregnant as soon as you stop thinking negative thoughts and start being positive.

Good Luck!

I had my second son after being diagnosed with pcos, had been trying for a couple of years and was having very patchy periods - have one then miss for six months, have 2 then miss 3 months and so on.

Was given treatment - tablets to take and within a few months had fallen pregnant with Ro, who is now nearly 2 - so there is always hope don't give up !!!

We are trying again and so for no sign of pcos, fingers crossed

Hi, I am 29 and just had my first baby. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 and was concerned about my chances of getting pregnant. However, after just over 6 months of trying I fell pregnant, so there is hope.

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
