Not too certain that i'm understanding your question... Could mean that the other person is scatterred and uncertain (reason for seeming a confused mess), could mean that their own self-esteem is kinda low or uncertain or shy (maybe this person actually 'likes' you, but doesn't know how to express these feelings), or maybe it's just you... Have you tried asking what their issues might be? If there's a problem? If they're okay? I don't know if i'm reading your question properly, but if I am... then I hope this helps... Does this individual seem like a shy person around others (have you noticed)???

I would more say that it says that they are a person in pain, with poor self esteem. They may need help badly, but be incapable of asking for it. This may seem like they dislike you; they really dislike themselves.

HUH????? If they are a "confused mess", why do you care if they like you?? Why wouldn't you WANT to go away??? I don't get it....
