If an adult is old enough to provide for himself, vote in an election, die for his country. Is he not responsible enough to decide if he wants to have a drink?

I'm talking about sober adults prevented by law from consuming alcohol.

I agree with you 100% if you can decide who is going to run this country and you are mature enough to make the decision of whether you want to die for your country then you should be allowed to walk into a bar and have a drink with friends or walk into a liquor store and buy whatever you want. I have never understood why in this country someone is considered an adult when they reach 18yrs but they cannot have a drink legally until 21yrs isn't this a little hypocritical!!!!!

if your just talking about changing the legal drinking age to 18 then I see your point. But there are laws that prevent people from drinking. i.e. if you are drunk and go into a bar or liquor store they are suppose to refuse to sell you any more alcohol.

They do now. Abstention orders are common when there are legal issues stemming from alcohol use. Example, if a person is unable to stop drinking, yet while drunk keeps committing crimes.

Ya, it's not that big of a deal to most people except the people that are between 18-21. Most kids that age can get booze anways.
