how do i hook up a mic to a windows 98 softwared 'puter with no mic icon?

the beautiful native princess said i could go through disabled something ..toolbar?...and talk on IM with her. if anyone knows how we'd be grateful

Just plug the mic into the mic plug on the sound card ;-)
