The McClaren take over was meant as with every manager to herald a new dawn....a new era...etc etc. So he makes the biggest publicity statement ever by saying good bye to Becks....and we expect therefore a new, younger and exciting team. A team that actually care about playing for England...
What have we got? Exactly the same old side barring Becks.....who don't play with passion, seem more worried about potentially getting injured so that they can't play for their club......it is so sad to see.
I agree....we need to play people who care....and I think younger guys making their way are the answer.......
But we all know this won't happen....that he will pick the same squad next time around and we will get the same abject performance.....and McClaren will have 'earned' another 6 months of astronomical wages before we play these next games.......

I dont think there all up for it, most of the lads who make under 21's never break through and the countries they play against their lads dont break through so the opposition aint too clever.
Like u i'm frustrated by this current crop i'd definatley push for a few of the under 21's to get a game like theo and micah richards.

I hear you. It seems once the youth are eligible for senior selection their ignored in favour of the big names. Why have an old school manager, experience is not related to age but knowledge gained in those years. New blood is need in the selection process, until then it's going to suffer, badly. Youth knows no bounds, free to express, doesn't get intimidated, etc.
Management needs a big shake up.

Mate did you watch the U21's in Germany. Ten man Germany played us off the park. They had 10 men from 10 minutes we didn't go down to 10 until the hour mark. If it wasn't for Theo we would have probably lost that as we. We were woeful in that match, first leg we were good though.

Exactly, let theo and the rest show what they are made of.
Flew up the wing like proverbial off a shovel the other night would have left the old usless sacks for standing.

I am sure that if the under-21s had been forced to play a formation and system alien to them then they would have struggled too.
It's not what you've got, but how you play it. Look at Northern Ireland.

Agree, keep Gerrard, Lennon, Wright-Philips to provide experience. And have Crouch as back-up.
The rest can go.

Could do but their lack of experience would cost them. However it would be far more interesting to watch and they would at least try a little.
