they usually do an opinion poll and ask people who use it what they think could be done to make the thing work better. There is always room for improvement.

have you ever bought somthing and didnt like it or wish it had more features and then did a questionaire on it. they took yours and others responeses and compared them.
then they adjusted there product to match the needs or dislikes so it is a NEWER and IMPROVED version

They could have taken a poll and asked people what they dont like and did away with it...

it killed lots of littl kids and some one colained about it so they had to make it not a child killer. but hmm its global population control so bad?
