For five hours Mr.Masipag the amount of work done is 5/9
The rest 4/9 is shared by both Mr.Maawin and Mr.Masipag and completed in 2 hr and 20 min => 7/3 hours

Mr.Masipag == A and Mr.Maawain == B
If both work together the amount fo work done per hour is
1/A + 1/B

for 7/3 hours
7/3 ( 1/A + 1/B)

in 7/3 hours they did 4/9th of work
hence, 7/3(1/A+1/B) = 4/9 ==> 1/A + 1/B = 4/21

since A is 9,
1/B = 4/21 - 1/9 = 1/7

so Mr.Maawain can do the job in 7 hours

As per your question Masipag takes rest after 5 hours. So it is to be assumed that Maawain does the balance work alone.

Let the total work be = W
Maspig has worked for 5 hours so work completed by him = 5/9*W

So, the balance work = W - 5/9*W = 4/9*W

For doing this portion Maawain takes 2 hrs 20 mins i.e. 7/3 hours. So to do the total job by himself alone Maawain should take:

For 4/9*W = Time 7/3 hours

Hence for W = Time is 9/4*7/3 = 21/4 hours i.e. 5 hrs and 15 mins.

Time taken by Maawain to do the job alone will be 5 hrs 15 mins.

It would take Mr. maawain 12 hrs and 36 min to do the job alone.

It would have taken Mr Mas. 4 more hours = 240 min to finish the job alone, but with Mr. maa helping it took 2 hr 20 min = 140 min. In 140 min Mr Mas can complete 140/240 = 7/12 of the remaining job. Therefore Mr. maa finishes 5/12 of the remaining job in 140 min. So Mr. maa is 5/7 as efficient as Mr. Mas. Therefore a job that takes Mr. Mas 9 hours will take Mr. maa 9x7/5 hrs = 63/5 = 12.6 hrs. = 12 hrs. 36 min. Note: since it takes more than half of the 4 hrs for the two of them to finish the job, clearly Mr. maawain is the slower worker

2:20+2:20+35 min.= 5 hours and 15 minutes (it's the best I can do)....
2 hrs= 1 hr 10 min.
1 hr.= 35 min.
Therefore Mr. Maawain is able to finish the job in 5 hrs. and 15 minutes all by himself.

Mr. maaw finishes 4 hrs of work within 2 hrs 20 minutes.
this equations solves for the time needed by him.

4/9=2.33/x, with x being the time needed.
so x=2.33*9/4 hrs.

this is more a logical question than ur previous one
