I personnaly blame the players and not Mclaren. Yes he may have changed tactics but these are meant to be world class players who are earning fortunes to apply their trades playing in the one of the best leagues in the world. They are too lightweight and lack passion !!

Good one MCP i think that you'll find two players in the Under 21's when they last played and just beacuse we don't play them doesn't mean we don't produce the talent ie Bentley, Pennent

Us the Fans are to blame becuase...

With the exception of '66 England have not won any other International tournaments (world/Euro), we haven't even reached the finals (the closest we got since was a semi).

But for some reason we expect England to go on and win every tournament the enter. The sad fact is that although we claim to have world class players, we don't really. We do have some (Gerrard for example), but the others are just overpaid average players. We see them in the premiership doing well and think they're the best in the world. But if you follow other leagues (for example Serie A, La Liga) you will see players with similar or better expertise playing weeke-in week-out.

There is a lot of money in the Premiership, mainly becuase of the fan base, and thats why our players have such extortionate wages. There are more foreign players in the premiership than in the German/Spanish/Italian equivalents, if our players we so good the rest of europe would want them.

Our players are ok at football, but their reputation exceeds them as superstars. Now other teams who don't have a long footballing history, such as Macedonia are able to beat us or give us a run for our money. they haven't had the experience and training that our guys have had.

Although i'm 3-Lions all the way, we don't have a good shot at a final for a while yet. Our boys are fit and strong, but we seem to lack natural quality that other nations are able to express.

We should see the England team as being mid way in the table of International footbball, and to reach anything more than a quarter-final will be a blessing. We have to keep things in perspective if we haven't been one of the tops dogs for a long time unless we have something short of a miracle (i.e like Greece in '04) we shouldn't expect anything more.

You're right a single person like the manager can't be blamed, afterall the formation shouldn't matter too much, they're professional footballers and if they can't play in whichever position the manager tells them to, they shouldn't be representing our country.

I still have full optimism at every tournament, but performances like last night, bring me sadly back to reality. And so if we had realistic expectations, we wouldn't suffer the heartache every time we crash out.

have to blame mclaren, the formation didnt work from the start and he didn't change anything untill it was too late and when he didi change he left ashley cole on the pitch injured, Write phillips came on and done well down the right but with 20 minutes left and croatias strong defence it wan't going to be enough. Cant blame paul robinson he made some decisive saves in the first half but i must admit i did laugh at the own goal but thats just misfortuante.

Agreed. I think the formation would have worked had we had Gerrard, Cole and Hargreaves instead of Parker, Downing and Carrick. The players lacked any kind of determination or desire to win the ball and the game. They played half-hearted - most disappointing. We were out-played and made an ordinary side look like a good one. At least there are 5 months in which to sort it out.

I agree with you on this one i have done for ages it seems to me that there really is no passion in the English team just 11 ego's. but as far as i am concerned Mclaren was already a failure being Sven's number two meant he was part of the management therefore equally to blame for previous failures. sack the lot and lets start with new trials for the squad and look further afield than just the premiership teams.

I am beginning to think that footballers have moved out of the category of athletes and are now performers on a par with most soap opera stars..as they are turning more into performers they are also turning more into prima-donna and have lots of moods ...maybe its time to scrap the silly money wages and go back to a decent wage and a bonus for a win...with the present system whether they win lose or even not playing makes no difference to the huge pay packet...

I blame Croatia!! They obviously didn't read the script and fall over letting your Over-rated and Over-paid Prima Donnas walk all over them!!! Didn't they realise that Engerland have a devine right to win every match they play!!!!!

Mclaren, he should never have got rid of Becks and personally I think Rooney has past his best and is overrated.
