Please don't let other answers panic you. It completely normal. Newborns can go up to 7 days without having a BM. It is VERY common and completely normal. I have spoken to three pediatricians about it. You can also check WebMD.com.

My daughter has suffered from constipation on and off since birth, I strongly suggest you get some professional help as early as possible if things look to be going that way. I found that dietary moderation, and feeding non binding food helps most .... It's ok now, but in a years time when the faeces is much more solid, if the constipation continues it put's the kid through absoloute agony.

Nothing like having to cuddle an infant as she sit's on the potty crying her heart out because she desperatly needs to , but just simply cant "go", take it from me.... it's bloody horrible for child and parent.

Yes, it can happen. This happened with my baby when she was little, and only on breastmilk.
It happens to solely breastfed babies. I noticed that if I gave her a bottle, she would usually pass feces an hour or so later.
I was worried when she went a whole week without pooping, so I took her to the doctor. They recommended giving her a bit of sugar-water. (Although since then I've heard conflicting opinions about this. Check with your doc or nurse before trying this). If your baby goes more than a week, then take her to the doctor because it could be something more serious.

My daughter used to get very bunged up and didn't go for a few days at a time. The best thing I found was to lay her down on her back and massage her stomach very gently after every meal. Also whilst she is laying down, you could try moving her legs in a bicycle motion, this helps to move the wind and faeces down the bowel canal. If this doesn't work, perhaps you could call your doctor and ask for some advice from the midwife. Good luck!

That seems way too long for a two month old. You really should consult his/her doctor. There could be something medical wrong could be simple or not. Never take any chances with your kids health.

Right now you can call your local doctors office if they are open and ask them over the phone. Or call your local emergency room and ask them. They will be able to tell you over the phone what to do or if you should bring the baby in.

If the baby is strictly breastfed it may not need to BM. The breastmilk can be all used for good & none is left over to be passed. Does he urinate regularly? You said he has gas, is he burping or farting? I would talk to the pediatrition, it doesn't hurt to ask questions & just imagine if you didn't go for five days, would you be concerned? I would be after three days.

You can try to put a little vaseline on a q-tip and insert it slowly, just a little bit into his rectum, just to stimulate any bowel movement that may be there.

Not totally normal no. When my daughter was constipated i use to give her some 'raisin water' which works wonders. Just soak some raisins in hot water and let it cool then give baby a few sips from a spoon or bottle, not too much tho as you don't want to go the other way! Call your health visitor too as they will probably have more advice.

A two month old should pass feaces daily. sometimes even more than once a day because their digestive system is not yet that developed. When you said he eats normally, should I assume that he is already on solid foods? maybe that's why he doesn't pass feaces daily. Bring him to his pedia for a checkup.

One of my daughters went through a similar experience at three months. It was easily remedied with a dose of lactulose. However, take her to your GP as there is also the chance that her bowel or intestine could be blocked or twisted. It's unlikely that this is the case or she would be in distress by now but I would take the safest route and have her checked out.

i have a 6 week old baby who is only having breast milk, a couple of weeks ago she didn't poo for 5 days she was still passing gas frequently though, i tried giving her a teaspoon of fresh squeezed orange juice in a bottle of cooled boiled water.this didn't work and i was getting worried, my dad is a GP and he said i didn't need to worry but if it was really stressing me he would give her a suppository. he did this and later that night she went, my word she went! since then she has got her self into a routine of going every 2-3 days, if you are worried try your GP/ Health visitor.

i would defo seek medical advice on this as it must be very uncomfortable for your child. Try giving a little water also. I left my child and she ended up having to use enemas etc to make her go, she is 8 now and alls well in that department now. Its worth just a phone call to your local GP or health visitor good luck
