I remember this drama and it was on itv...It was a gorilla type creature and it was being kept in a remote yorkshire village for observation/tests or something. It wasnt a horror as such but i do remember the programme albeit a little sketchy. I remeber i felt sorry for it at the time.

I remember about a film with Dustin Hoffman and Rene (something I can't remember) a little girl found the monkey (whom she called Betsy) who was the host to the disease Chimera. when the monkey was finally caught the cure was found and quarantine was lifted and the people who were still living were given the antidote. And they lived happily ever after!

Yeah I know the type, my cousin twice removed dogs just past away, so I'm singing this in his memory (old Shep). It's not just the kids either, they all have a tale of woe rehearsed. Do they honestly think that we can't see through this, because if they do they're wrong.

Yes- a human-ape hybrid. As a qualified bio-chemist i can confirm it is pronounced kai-me-ra, and that the Dustin Hoffman film was called Outbreak.

Half human half ape. GOR was his name I think. Charles Dance was the human donor, don't know who the ape mother was (probably a PG Tips extra, who knows). I think Gor was killed in the end by the military, but don't quote me on that.

Yes, I remember there being lots of hype round it but it turned out to be a bit rubbish. We argued at school as to whether it was pronounced "Kai-mee-rah" or "Shi-me-ra"

I didn't remember it so had to look it up and it sounds very interesting: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0101577/
The hilarious thing is it actually starred Paul O'Grady - Lily Savage! I wonder what role he played?!
