Memorial service every year? Would your brother really want you doing that or moving on with life and doing something for your boyfriend's birthday?
I would say... knock off the memorial service every year... you're not impressing anyone. Not your family, not yourself and certainly nor your brother. If you would like to pay your respects, visit your brother's gravesite every year quietly and reflect on the times you had together.

You have to decide what is important to you the living or the dead. Personally if I was your boyfriend I would have no objections whatsoever to you putting the money towards your brother's memorial. As it is something that is important to you and (hopefully) your boyfriend will have other birthdays on which you can have big celebrations. However as I said at the beginning it is something only you can decide, but what ever you decide needs to be based on what's best for YOU never mind anyone else!

hey u should not be offended with what i have to say here.......
u know the simple way to solve this problem is to prepone your brothers memorial service as he is not going to anyway know about it
or change your boyfriend and be sure the new boyfriends birthday doesnt clash with u r brothers memorial service

well a memorial service need not be expensive,, just go visit his grave with family and friends, does not have to be a full blown expensive affair, make a few plates of sandwiches and cakes and cups of tea and coffee ... im sure he's want you to get on with your life and LIVE it,, and throw your bf a big party.

There is no need of big money for your brother's memorial. Just pray God for him. Ask you boy to be with you on that day and then do whatever you want afterwards for your boy's BD. OK.

Your brother should come first and your boyfriend if he is a decent human being will understand and respect that.

Ok, are you serious, do you really feel like partying right now? and if so then compromise, if your dude is cool, he should understand.
