I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'll add a few comments that might in some way relate:

Children have different fears at different ages. You may want to list the fears of being 1 year old, 2, years old, 3, etc. etc. Some of the fears kids have are about lightning, burglars, their mother dying, falling into the toilet, the dark in general, sounds of bugs, sounds of fire truck sirens

If you look up some child development material about fears you'd get plenty.

Also, you could talk about what happens when childrens' fears are not handled the right way by parents and how children can feel isolated or disregarded if parents don't know how to deal with fears.

You could talk about children's fears of terrorism, being kidnapped, or even guns in school (which tend to be fears of their generation).

Can you interview parents? If a certain fear response is reported by a good number, then you have a narrowed field to focus on.

As I sincerely hate children, I would love to read it when you're finished with it. I'll use it for a guide-book.
