When I was a teen in the 70's my best friend and I hitchhiked from:
New York City to Kansas City
Kansas City to Los Angeles
Los Angeles to Portland Oregon
Portland Oregon back home to NYC
And when we got back home boy did we get into some deep crap, but not ss much as when we stole my dads money and my moms credit card.. without retelling that story if you are interested to hear it, read it here: It is just to long to put on this venue, but it is a good story if I do say so myself!

I've hiked but not hitch-hiked.
Distance? Approximately between 10 to 12 kilometers.
Place? Somewhere in Asia.
Peace.

I wasn't really hitch-hiking. I was working a fireworks stand and my cell phone went dead. I was without a car and someone was supposed to come get me. Well they never showed up.I started walking home at 11PM by myself. This pick up passed me and stopped. I thought okay this is it I'm dead. Turned out to be one of my nephews really good friends. He took me home. I was going to walk about 3 miles to get home.

My hitch-hiking days ended, when a guy picked us up and made us watch him masturbate while holding a gun on us... I was a teen..a stupid, but lucky, teen. I'd rather walk, thank you very much.

I hitchhiked from Melbourne to Brisbane (around 1800km's). Was lucky enough to find a truck travelling straight to Brisbane. (With a few stops along the way)

Train, bus, or taxi was a better option when I didn't know how to drive a car, yet.
