most objects usually reflect light. That is, light lands on an object, some wavelengths of the light is absorbed, and the rest is reflected back outwards.

For luminous objects, they emitt energy and as a by product emit radiation at certain wavelengths that can be seen as light (maybe colorful). So luminous objects do not need to reflect light, they emit it.
