If he is your husband I would think you would be aware of any medical condition he had.
My best guess is he's using illegal street drugs...
Painkiller are rarely prescribed in this manner. Pills yes syringes no.
Ask to see the prescription and bottle he is drawing the meds from... If he doesn't have one or shows you a spoon it's likely crack or heroin.....
How are your finances, does he work, are things missing from your home?
My ex was a drug addict and I found out the hard way also...

I can visualise u r agony.1. Pl discreetly check with his friends about this. 2. U can casually ask him if he is taking injection for diabetic etc.. 3. Pl keep a watch on the valubles at home.

You're right, that syringe could have benn anything- Methadone,Heroin, Steoids, Oxycotin... or that needle could have been shared. If that is the case, I suggest that he should get tested for HIV, or do a drug test
