Has anyone played the support role for a drunk friend?

I just got done putting my roomate to bed and I feel really bad because I just couldn't alieviate his pain. You know when they need to get so drunk to elieviate thier pain that as a friend you just want to say the right thing. What is the right thing to say? Will they remember in the morning?

Well if its your friend thats drunk, not you, why are you blaming yourself??? Its his problem, not yours you know
