Making 75k rent free in an averagely expensive city. Got a job promotion offer for 105k in Manhattan. Not sure what to do...I like where I am now but NY seems like it could possibly be fun, wayyy expensive tho. Any advice? How much would I have to earn to make it equivalent? Pls help me decide.

Why don't you just give it a year and see what you think.
Sounds to me like a great opportunity, who wouldn't want to live in such an exciting city.
100k is an awesome wage, I can't see how you wouldn't be able to afford to live there. You don't have to live on Park Ave.
And if necessary, you may be able to share expenses with someone else.
Go; have a great time, soak up the atmosphere, the culture, nightlife, sights........
Better to not spend the rest of your life wondering "what if......"

if you're satisfied with your life as is, stay with it---opportunity for change is only sometimes good. how difficult is it for you to move-family responsibilities? if you are young, may be a good chance to see more of the world, expand your resources and contacts. not many places to live that are not expensive. i lived in Manhattan for a few months-truly a 24/7 place---lights and sirens, sidewalks full of people rushing in every direction, not much sky to see for the buildings, beggars laying in streets, pretty dirty, as you may gather, m not fond of NYC, but some don't mind the fast pace---good luck, whatever your choice

Making $30,000 more a year, I wouldn't worry too much about the rent, Life is too short, so if you can have fun and work at the same time, then go for it. I would. =-) Remember everybody isnt as privilidge as you are, have some fun go to the Big Apple.

Do it. You can ALWAYS move back home.

I took a chance and moved to Los Angeles. After 3 years, I didn't like it and I moved back East.
