Mike Bossy was the best pure goal-scorer I ever saw.

I saw the Rocket play and was awed. I saw Gordie play and was awed.

I played with Bobby Hull and Phil Esposito at some Black Hawks training camps and was awed.

Then I was awed by Gretzky and Lemieux.

But the consensus mong hockey people is that Bossy was the best pure goal scorer ever (Mario Lemieux said this himself many times that he looked up to Bossy as a kid).

If it wasn't for back injuries, at his goalscoring pace, he would would have broken Howe's record 11 months before Wayne did.

He has the highest career shooting percentage of all players who have scored more than 500 goals.

As for the Islanders, Bossy's health had no bearing on the team's fortunes. The first Oiler cup swept an Islander team that was healthy...and a lot older.

the Canadiens had the best dynasties ever, but yes the Oilers came out, and it took them 5 years to finally beat the Islanders. but if it wasn't for the Oilers the Flames could have been some what of a dynasties. and the most the Oilers could win was 2 cup's in a row not 4 like the Islanders did or Montreal did in the late 70's or like Montreal's 5 cup win. yes Mike Bossy could of been way up their in goals over Gretzky but hey its the same with Mario Lemieux if cancer and injuries didn't get to him in his early career in the early 90's then Lemieux would of shattered Gretzky's records. remember this Lemieux had 613 goals in 745 games by 1996-97; and he had a terrible team till the early 90's. Gretzky had greats on his team and had 894 goals in 1487 games just imagine what of might happened if he was healthy. they wouldn't be calling him the great one because Gretzky was already called that earlier in his career. i know i just went off topic but hey! c'est la vie!!!

the best Dynasty in NHL history. They were damn close and if a bohemoth like Edmonton wasn't around the corner, they could have won countless more!
