Programs launch when windows startup will appear on the taskbar. Right click the programs that you do not want to launch during windows start up and click properties. Uncheck the box where it says "Launch when windows startup", sometimes this option appear at the time when you right click the program icon on the taskbar.

Hope this helps.

Go to your start menu, click on the 'run' button. Type in 'msconfig' and press enter. Go to the startup tab and uncheck any programs you don't want to start up. Restart your computer and when a message pops up saying something about changing startup, check the do not show this message again box, and click okay.

I'm not sure if it works on windows 2000, but it works on XP. Just go to Start menu, then "Run," then type "msconfig." From there you will go to the "startup" tab, then unselect any of the processes you don't want to start when windows starts up.

1. Look in the bottom right hand corner where u see the icons that start up when your computer does. Most of them if you right click them will have some sort of option to hide the icon and or disable it from starting up when the computer does.

2. Click on start, click on all programs, click on the start up folder. U myte find some programs in that folder that start up when the computer does. Right click the program u dont want 2 start up and delete it.

3. Download a 3rd party program that allows you to delete start up entrys from the registry.

Only SOME of the progs that autostarts with the OS will show up as system-tray icons. Make sure u uncheck the "start with windows" box in the options of all such (unwanted-to-start) programs.

A much user-friendly, free and light-weight app to handle all the unwanted start-up items is the "Startupcpl" - http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

MSCONFIG can be a lil intimidating at times.
