Hi to you! I am a makeup artist in my fifties and people always comment how young I look and how I came to have beautiful skin. Many people think that it's not good to wear makeup to bed and I don't agree. It depends on the person. Vidal Sassoon taught that if you cleanse properly in the morning you can wear makeup to bed and it is good for your skin. Your pillow is the dirtiest place for your skin to touch other than your fingers. Our hair picks up polution, dirt, oils, dead skin etc. and when we sleep, our hair is smushed into our pillows. We then smush our faces in the same pillow. Sassoon says Makeup can prevent some of that grime (that starts breakouts) from entering our pores. It does not make you age. Your heriditary line determines how you age. Other factors like stress and illness speeds the process. Soap hurts skin by destroying the acid mantle. Use low ph shampoo or a cleansing cream or clear soap to cleanse in the morning. Sassoon also said if you cleanse your skin be fore you go to bed, apply a thin layer of foundation to protect the skin from your pillow. Makeup isn't dirty, it's not cleansing properly that's the problem. Also, your skin breathes at night and pores open more. If you moisturize before going to bed you are more apt to have puffy eyes in the morning. Your foundation should not contain too much oil. Use a water based formula.
Mineral oil is a real ager. Good luck and have a dreamy sleep.

Sleeping in makeup is a big beauty no-no, but we have all done it, when you crawl home in the early hours,Well it wont ruin your skin. But it will cause serious breakouts and cause your face to be very very dirty. It clogs your pores and causes acne. The skin begins to age when the body stops growing in late adolescence, but the effects of aging don't show until mid-life.It probably does age your skin but I have no idea at what rate.

"sleep with make up on you age approx 10 days", that is not quite true.

Sleeping with make-up on may cause red, dry and itchy skin. I sleep with make-up on few times (drunk, exhausted from work etc..that i couldn't be bother to wash my face), the next day I saw a few growing pimples, red dots...very itchy and look just bad.

Sleep with make up on is NOT good. It is recommended by doctors that you should clean your face before going to bed. Let you skin breath healthily after the whole day under huge amount of make-up...

NO. THE MOST COMMON THINGS THAT CAUSE AGING ARE ,ENVIORMENT (SUN,WIND,ETC) , SMOKING AND NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER. HAVING A GOOD SKIN CARE ROUTINE CAN PREVENT EARLY AGING. I WOULD AVOID HARSH ABRASIVE EXFOLIATION PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN ALCOHOL APRICOT /PEACH .SCRUBS. THESE PRODUCTS CAN SCAR YOUR SKIN LEAVING SMALL DEEP SCRATCHES THAT CAN GO BELOW THE SURFACE LAYER OF YOUR FACE . I RECOMMEND USING MARY KAY TIME WISE ,THIS IS THE ANTI AGING SKIN CARE LINE AND IT IS AWESOME. YOU USE IT IN THE MORNING AND EVENING . YOU SHOULDN'T WEAR MAKE UP TO BED , YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN YOU CANT REPLACE IT LIKE OTHER PARTS OF YOUR BODY.NOT TO MENTION , THE DAMAGE IT MUST DO TO YOUR BED LINEN. YOU MUST HAVE TO WASH YOUR PILLOW CASE OFTEN BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK IT CAUSES AGING ,IT WILL CAUSE BREAK OUTS IF YOUR PILLOW CASE IS COVERED WITH A WEEK OR TWO'S MAKE UP,PLUS WHAT YOU WENT TO BED WITH. HOPE THIS HELPS !!!

10 days!! oh no i must have aged quote a bit when i used to have thatbad habit. but i know for sure that it'll clog your pores and cause breakouts, which in my opinion is just as bad. spend that extra 5 mins to wash your face

your skin regenerates itself at night so anything you leave on your face slows down that process. if you don't exfoliate your face at night it could lead to dry dull skin which in turn will make you look older. so i don't know about 10 yrs but the myth makes some sense and i don't want to chance it.

your skin needs to breath. Always wash your face before bed. Sleeping with make up on can lead to acne, oily skin, bad complexion...
