Tomdelonge, what do you mean "a team from small island". I know another small island who's got good soccer team. The players are also great. And the island I'm talking about has many stadium. It's not because the island is small that they can't play soccer and that doesn't mean they are not good at soccer. Eventually, I'm not talking about Faroe island. Faroe Island is not enough strong to face the other teams, that's all. They've got to practice a lot and to give the best of them to be able to win a game. Till now, I haven't seen them play but, from what I've heard, they are not really good. I hope that answers your question.

They have one of the worst team records in the FIFA. But what do you expect from a small island's team. The whole island's population couldn't fill the Wembley stadium.
They're mostly amateurs competing with professional players, so for them it's a great feat if they don't lose.
I remember them beating Austria in a Euro-qualifier match. The goalie was a worker from a fish factory and always wore a bobble hat during games to keep his ears warm but still managed to keep a clean sheet against the Austrian players, who all earned their money by playing football professionally. I think the guy who scored the goal for the Faeroers was an ice-cream vendor.
And three time world champion Germany scored their first goal in the 2003 qualifier against Faeroer only in the last minute of the game. Bad luck otherwise the Faeroe Islands would have managed a draw.
And Christi@n is wrong: in the last two World Cup qualifiers they managed to beat Malta and Luxemburg respectively and left the last place to these countries.
So I hope the Faeroe Islands manage to upset a big team this year as well.

WELL GOOD POINT AND A GOOD QUESTION .
THEY REALLY ARE A SURPRISINGLY GOOD TEAM . I THINK WE CAN SEE THEM IN SOUTH AFRICA 2010 . THE Y R A VERY CONTROLLED AND WELL ORGANIZED TEAM . THEY ARE RATHER A VERY GOOD TEAM.
I WILL GIVE THEM A 6/10 THE RATING WHICH I GIVE TO TEAMS who fails to qualify but are strong contenders to qualify for major tournaments.
GOOD POINT]
