I think it is. That is such a personal time that I have a hard time believing you can feel totally comfortable have sex while on your period. Now having said that I have a close girlfriend that tried it twice with her fiance' & with some coaxing and once time she said it was okay (light flow to no flow day) and the other time she said was horrendous and disgusting.
I know I am extremely horny before and during my period, but I think that is because of all the hormones.
I vote NAY!

perhaps a little but I would engage during it with my partner if I had one. I have heard that it acually soothes the womans pains because sometimes it can hurt so much... it is just perhaps a little more messy thats all

All depends on your comfort level, and that of your partner. Studies have shown that having intercourse during your cycle decreases cramps and pain due to the release of endorphines which help one cope with discomfort.

if you mean "to have a contact" well, it really depends on the couple if they want to do it or not...If they think that its so gross or messy......really depends on what they BOTH think.
