If you legalize it, you won't be able to afford it anymore... The taxes on it alone will be 2x what you pay for a bag now.

Be careful what you wish for ;-)

Whether pot smokers calm down, make friends, or go straight to hell is completely immaterial to the powers than might legalize the stuff. There is only one plausible reason to resend the law banning the sale and use of marijuana; to drive the criminal element out of the market.

If weed were legalized, several things would happen. First, the quality would become consistent. Second, the price, despite the fact that it would indeed be taxed, would go down not up. Otherwise the very dope dealers targeted for elimination would be in deeper than ever. Third, law enforcement could wash its hands of chasing traffickers in a relatively harmless substance and concentrate on other things. And finally, use would actually diminish. There is a large contingent of dope smokers who use for no other reason than the sheer thrill of doing something illegal. Once it's no longer a crime, the fun's over.

Now, despite all that argument for legalization, don't look for any thing like that to happen any time soon. Among the voting public drugs, and marijuana is still a drug, bear such a stigma that any lawmaker who so much as whispers advocacy is committing political suicide, and ain't none of 'em gonna do that no matter how practical the outcome.

Absolutely not! Have you seen the affects taht eccessive drug use can do to your brain? I saw a documentary on smoking pot and it talked about how after a while the brain begins to look like a wad of popped bubble gum. I don't know about you, but I don't want my brain to look like that, and why would you want to legalize something that will do such drastic harm to you??? Think about it!

As a Canadian girl, I don't think the US should legalize week at all no matter what. If you want to go all crazy, I suggest that you have 2 or 3 mugs of coffee.

The down side to legalization would be taxing and regulations the quality would go to hell. How ever it's a great dream to have.

Yes, but as others have noted, the government would want its hands in the honey pot just like everything else. Unfortunately, neither you nor I will ever live to see it legalized.

Sure and if the Government's needs to their hands on the money...Just think of all the diseases that could be cured with all money ,hospitals, and health care could all benefit because of weed..

I joined NORML because I am all for the decriminalization of marijuana.

I love to blaze up before I hit the stage.

it would end a lot of problems.... it would free some of the jail space. it would stop a lot of murders by the dealers on the corner, strays hitting children, however, it would be taxable....the government makes more money off of it while it is illegal.

If you have to depend upon a substance you are a true loser. Devoid of creative imagination and the proud possessor of zero knowledge of what you are doing to your brain.
