Besides the music he/she plays, what do DJs that you like do on the radio that make you like them?

yes. good voice. funny/sarcastic. brings up subjects that are hot topics but doesnt get too into politics (it makes everyone look ignorant) talks about social things they notice that are funny or culturally strange, picks on an intern/co-worker but not in a mean way, has funny things/habits that he/she is honest about, randomly has an on-goiging/on-air drama going on with someone in the studio or that calls-in. has some kind of theme/game for the day. usually talking about sex or boys/girls makes a dj popular ( but mostly it comes off ignorant as well, but sex and scandal sells. always will )

I'm a former DJ. As for what I like in a jock, I'm not a huge fan of the "morning zoo" format, and don't like loudmouths who constantly tell crass, juvenile jokes. Humor is fine, but it's better when it's above grade-school level. I like someone who actually announces the songs (you may think that everybody out there knows what artist did the song, but trust me, there's always someone who doesn't, and announcing it saves the hassle of that person calling the station to pester the DJ about it). A pleasant voice is a must. And there's no need to burst in after every single song. It's good to back off the mic a while and just let the music play. A decent jock will give weather updates and other information, as well as playing commercials. A jock should be like a good friend who's playing music for you, somebody you trust and like, but who isn't in your face all the time.

i used to be a DJ in the early 1970s and what people liked was "less talk and more music". pleasant, steady voice, sense of humor. of course, i was a night time DJ.

These days I like a DJ who doesn't say stupid crap. If you want to be funny, go be a comedian. If you want to talk opinions, be a politician. If you want to play music, play music. Just don't give people a reason not to like you.

They're really cool, like if you text a song request in, they'll text back with things like hey, great song or if they really were thinking about the song, they say, I was just thinking about that song! Little things like that, also sharing myspaces with their fans. That's another biggy and also, if its a radio station that does not let people request things, to start doing it! Like Alice radiostation does!

Their voice; I don't want to listen to someone whose sound is annoying. Their personality; I want to hear someone who makes me laugh.
