I am security guard working in a supermarket. im going to retire soon in november, but i want to renew my contract of my job here.

You can appraoch the manager/decision maker in person first, to find out if renewal is an option. Or you may already know others whose contracts have been renewed, showing this is an acceptable practice. If renewal is an option, then you can ask them directly what to do to get your contract renewed, and follow their suggestions. If they ask for a letter (may not come to this), write something along these lines:

(present it, in person, 3-4 weeks before your contract is up):

Dear Mr/Mrs ,

my Security Guard contract is concluding on .
I have been very pleased with , and have been a good employee , and am interested in and available for a contract renewal.

Please let me know if that would also interest you, and if so, what paperwork and arrangements are needed to formalize the extension.
