Depends exactly what you are talking about.
Western World: The land and Environment because of the tremendous amount of waste and not enough recycling. The water from fertilisers and non trapment of rubbish from drains.
Third World and Developing World: Some of these recycle more material overall than the west, I have seen in China they even recycle toilet paper and Polystyrene. But their hygiene is poor and they are not educated enough to centralise or dispose of non recyclable waste, so every village etc and in the cities is poluted. It was interesting to see when Disnyland opened in Hong Kong, the local Chinese complained bitterly about the mainland Chinese polluting Hong Kong, it just goes to show you the British taught them something before handing back Hong Kong.
