Yes, motivation as described in Maslow's hierarcy depends on the person's needs: first for food, shelter, safety, cluminating in self-fulfillment.

All that to say: money, recognition, fame have their allure only after the person's basic needs are fulfilled.

It's true that people are motivated to perform but towards what extend of energy to be inputed will be highly dependable on what this person is reaching out for.

Yes. Studies have shown that people are motivated for different reasons; survival (need to pay the rent), money gains (being able to pay for items they don't need, but want), recognition, and titles among other things.
