How long do you think they will be lower, and when do you expect an increase?? Will elections play a part in these changes?

seriously, do you realize that this happens EVERY YEAR after Summer, when demand goes down? or do you just LOVE to blame it on the republicans ?
Personally, I'm paying 30 cents ABOVE national average here in Nevada, and we have a Democratic senator. Now, explain THAT one to me...

I would like to see whose foot will be in their mouths in a few months, and if I am wrong, and the republicans ARE behind this, like they must be BEHIND EVERYTHING... then I will step up and admit I'm wrong. Can anyone else do the same, or will you just give me thumbs down, cause you know I'm being honest and you can't be?

PS ~ if the price of gas is going to help the republicans win elections, that's awfully SAD

DSTR ~ when you are going to state "fact, no lie" let's see your source

LOL thumbs down I KNEW IT. you people never fail to amaze me, what the hell is your problem?

Actually I heard on the radio it was due to a large decrease in demand since people did less travelling over the summer and SUV sales had slumped. Of course, now that prices are down the dummies are buying SUVs again, so it will soon be up again. I have noticed that it goes down periodically then way back up again. I think they do it on purpose to appease the masses and calm everyone clamering for legislation down, then when all is quiet they run the prices back up again.

~25% decrease in two months. But the conservatives say this is because of market forces. I think it's the oil companies protecting the republicans by lowering the prices. Yesterday OPEC agreed to cut production starting in a week or two. This will drive oil back up after the election because it will have to work it's way through the system.

The nail has been hit on the head!!! YES...The upcoming elections are the reason for the change (keep your eyes open for the campaign adds justifying the war for oil and the "victory" over terrorist) when the elections are over watch for prices to increase past their highest prices that we just got "bent-over" for!!! Don't be fooled- Big money will always win , get bigger and get away with it by bribes , kickbacks and loopholes....no matter what your "parties puppet" says!!!

As a political cartoon in my newspaper read:

[Pictures Capitol Hil in DC]
A banner sign reads "Cheap Gas $1 per gallon - Offer good until Nov 7"

I believe this says it all. It is purely because of the elections. And ignorant dumb Americans will forget all about gas at the polls and re-elect the same fools into office.

This might be a gimmick to help the Republicans in November, in which case right after the elections the prices will rise again!

You are either being disingenuous or then you were born yesterday because this happens at the end of each summer and lasts until around Thanksgiving when people travel a lot again. Last year was an exception because of Katrina.

many investors think speculators were buying it up to try to get rich quick, (buying it because the price was going up) now there is excess supply so they are all selling in, which lowers the price(same for gold, realestate and other commodities).
Either way, government has no control over it or else it wouldn't have shot up so fast in the first place

George Bush has a secret black box that he uses to send radio waves to all the gas stations and tell them how much to charge so he can help Republicans win the elections.

That must be it.

Duh...when the prices go up it is Bush's fault. When they go down it is a Bush/election ploy. You rate right up there with all the other MORONS!!!!!!!!! Get a friggin' BRAIN!!
