I just started taking Ortho Lo this week to regulate things, but it has horrible side effects such as nausea and dizziness. Tonight a bunch of my hair came out in the shower, so I don't want to take it anymore obviously. Is there a hazzard with just stopping taking it? I can take irregularity more than I can take this. Anyone with any experience or knowledge?

I just wanted to add that I'm not concerned with getting pregnant as I am not sexually active, but am just concerned with any adverse effects.

Yes, you can stop at any time. Because of the sudden change of hormones, though, you can expect some bleeding. There's a wonderful book that I read that really educated me about what is going on with my body during certain times of the month. It's called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control and Pregnancy Achievement" by Toni Weschler. (I'm married and thought I knew all about my body! I was wrong!) Since your irregularity concerns you, reading this book will clue you in to the different changes in your body so you can actually know when you are going to start your next period. (It's true!) Your local library might have a copy.

I've been on Alesse for ages, to regulate my period. it's excellent. Talk to your doctor as soon as you can, but there shouldn't be any crazy side effects if you really need to stop.

Yes, you can just stop. You might get some withdrawal bleeding though. Go see your doctor and explain your symptoms
